At the beginning of June, we had the honour of planning, styling and decorating Katy & Nathan’s wedding at Mulberry On Swan and what an amazing experience it was.
Over a series of months, we had the task of planning and coordinating with a variety or vendors, creating timelines, floor plans and of course setting up Katy and Nathan’s reception décor and then overseeing the wedding itself.
One of the newest members of the Confetti Team Bronwyn tagged along on her first wedding set up and this is what she had to say.
‘Having only been to three weddings in my life, setting up the décor and styling for a reception was very new to me. I was surprised at how much ‘stuff’ we had to pack, how much it filled up the car, and how organised we had to be to make sure we executed the styling well.
After unloading, we swagged the bridal table to make it look whimsical and elegant. This was the biggest mission of the morning! Each pin had to go through the swagging fabric, and the tablecloths underneath, perfectly straight. I struggled with this, but luckily Tracey is well experienced, has an eye for detail, and the patience to correct all my crooked pins. My favourite part was threading the fairy lights through the front as they added a touch of elegance to the bridal table!
Then we began setting up the centrepieces on each guest table. Firstly, all the mirrors had to be sparkling clean – not a fingerprint or smudge in sight. We filled the vases with water-beads and made sure each centrepiece was laid out identically on each table. Tracey and I both have a keen eye and would only have set up the décor to a standard we would approve of if it were our own wedding or event. We added in the tealights, starfish and frangipanis and started to see the coastal beach theme come together.
My favourite décor piece would have to be the wine glasses filled with shells and sand, that became candle holders. These were very unique, and I would have wanted them if my wedding was beach themed! We then distributed the place cards, which were all organised by table, and we made sure each card was set in the same way, and confirmed we got the seating arrangements correct. After setting up the wishing well, guestbook accessories and a couple of signs, I was very surprised how the time had passed. You know what they say – time flies when you’re having fun!
Setting up with Tracey from True Elegance at Confetti Occasions was a fun and pleasant experience. It definitely made me more excited for my upcoming wedding, but also let me realise just how much attention, detail, planning and time goes into the set-up and execution of the décor for your dream day.’
